Like every other business this year, caterers and party planners were bracing themselves for a bleak holiday season as companies cut back of extravagant holiday parties. But thanks to the innovative concept of company holiday party sharing, caterers may have a merrier holiday season.

New York Times writer Mickey Meece recently wrote about the trend this year in corporate America. Instead of pulling a Mr. Grinch and cancelling your company’s annual holiday bash because of the cost, think about sharing it. By sharing the cost with 3-9 other small businesses, even companies of a tight budget may be able to have some holiday fun!

All over the country, B.Y.O.B. parties are popping up. Promoters are going all out with décor, a DJ, catered food and beverage. They offer many small to medium-sized businesses packages to host their holiday party at one of these events along with a dozen or so other companies. These parties are also being promoted as a great place to network. Bringing professionals of many different industries together in a relaxed and festive atmosphere, networking occurs which can help many businesses grow.

So, instead of cancelling your holiday soiree this year, get together with neighboring businesses to give your employees a chance to have some fun after this stressful and tough year!
