Meet Massage Therapist Angelique!

I was born in Indianapolis Indiana and have l...ived here since 1996 I attended Phoenix Therapeutic Massage School because of their great reputation.
I am a seasoned massage therapist who is not afraid to dive into a challenge when helping my clients. I give a 110% to my client's.
Interests:

I come from more of a holistic background and believe that the body can heal itself when given the proper tools. I love combining all the elements of massage like essential oils with energy work and trigger point therapy.I enjoy customizing my therapy to my clients needs. I prefer to custom design my client's massage based on their level of physical activities their inherent weaknesses and any other physical needs or physical conditions they might have. What I like best about massage is that moment you feel the person totally relaxed and even fall asleep during their massage You can actually see their face physically change and they look more peaceful
when their pain dissipates. I also like to educate people about the benefits of massage. I frequently explain how they need to take care of themselves by drinking enough water, stretching, and the effective use of Epsom salt baths, as their problems will not go away overnight.

Associations:

I am well versed in many modalities: chair massage, swedish, deep tissue, therapeutic, t rigger point, myofascial, cranial, sacral, shiatsu, reiki, and Young Living Raindrop Therapy.

Great Massage with Maria
1/30/2012
Samuel M says: My massage at your Waikiki office was outstanding. Maria is very good at deep tissue masage and she was able to get the kinks out of my back and legs. My weight is 340 lbs so I didn't think she could get in deep enough, but she did a great job.
Affordable, Awesome
1/20/2012
Paul M says: I've had two great massages here, and will keep coming back. It's sometimes hard to get an appointment (busy phone, message tag), but worth it. I don't need to pay premium for a spa atmosphere, this is just right.
Ask for Carissa!
10/28/2011
Lia P says: I'm definitely not a massage enthusiast... Carissa changed that. It's affordable enough to get regular massages and fabulous enough to want them. I loved the no frills atmosphere - which usually makes me a little uncomfortable. Carissa was awesome and very nice. I will totally return and request her.
Real massage for everyone!
10/14/2011
Linda C says: I have had a LOT of massage in my life, so think I truly understand what the RANGE of experience can be... I've been coming to Relax It's Just Massage for many months now, and can honestly say that this is the place to go if you want a good massage, but without all the frills. On-street parking is easy to get (take quarters for the meter) and the suite is easily accessed once you arrive. What it is: Clean and neat, small but nice, well-maintained, pleasantly staffed and conveniently located/easy to get to - once you find it! What it isn't: Fancy, foofy, a place with lots of "amenities". So, you go there, get your massage, and head home to take a shower. Works for me, and probably for most of us, if what you want is a massage. My current favorite therapist is Carissa. Really good!! This place has really enhanced my existence, as the price makes it affordable for regular massage to be part of my life again! :-) Yes, there is construction going on, but honestly, I am usually bothered by things like that and it is NOT that noticeable at all. Yes, it can be hard to get a call back, but just keep trying - it's worth it! In closing, please note: Focus on the massage. I have had MANY massages that I have paid 3 to 4 times as much for that have been less professional and satisfying than the massages I have had here. This place is real, and the name is PERFECT... relax, it's just massage!
Massage on a Yacht---Excellent Service
7/24/2011
Danielle S says: My boyfriend and I got massages from Mobile Massage with Shay and Ashley and had the BEST experience! They came out to our boat with all the massage equipment. They went out of their way to make us comfortable, they were very accommodating, professional and we were both very impressed with their massage skills! I highly recommend them and I will definitely use their services again in the future!!!
GREAT
6/25/2011
lisette c says: Straight to the point of what it is. A massage. The girl was young and I thought maybe she wouldnt be too experienced but she was great. :) She did a deep/swedish massage and really relaxed me. (I think her name was Dimitri) The construction down stairs threw me off a little because I felt like the men were inside my room but once I tuned them out I was fine. :) Very please will be returning.
SURPRISINGLY AWESOME!
6/18/2011
DONALD G says: I considered canceling my appt after reading unfavorable reviews. I'm SO glad I kept the 1 hour appointment. I've been getting massages for about 30 years and this massage was a treat! I was so pleased, I purchased 3-90 minute sessions before I left the salon. It was a great way to start a Friday morning by having the body-kinks rolled out before a busy weekend. I'm heading back folks for more!
OMG!
5/04/2011
Corinne H says: For those of you who are tired of paying top dollar at the local hotels for a less than awesome experience...this is the place! This no-frills location is a hidden gem. It is clean, bright, and comfortable...and everyone was more than professional. You'll get a fantatic massage for a great price and have plenty of hard earned dollars left-over for some shopping or sunset cocktails! My husband had a great massage from Rhonda. And Ladies...ask for Chris...he has magic hands!!!! We were both so relaxed and felt wonderful when we left.
Justin/Honolulu
4/18/2011
kathleen c says: I made several visits to Relax, starting with my initial Living Social coupon purchase. I've worked with several therapists, all of whom were quite good After a recent accident where I was having a lot of back and shoulder pain, Justin was suggested to me by my scheduler. Justin is a nurse practioner who has done orthopedic work and also does Cranial Sacral Therapy. Rather than just a massage, this was muscle therapy. He was able to determine which muscles where inflamed and target those as well as relaxing me.. I felt tremendously better the next day after days in pain.
Tania L.
4/15/2011
Tania L says: **Rating is based in the category of massage spots, NOT for the day spa and getaway/escape pampered experience** $40 for an hour massage, or if you buy the 6-pack, it comes out to $25 a massage. They have deals for the 90-minute and 2-hr massages as well, $390 and $570 respectively, I think. The bf and I went in yesterday. Yes, it IS difficult to find even if you know EXACTLY where Eaton Square is (which we did). If you so choose, park your car in the garage, then go into the elevator and go down to the first floor. Exit. Right in front you will see an opening to the court yard. Voila, slightly to your left and above First Hawaiian Bank you should see a banner/sign that says "Relax, It's Just Massage". Walk up those steps. -- They are looking to expand but not sure when that's going to happen, so for now follow those directions. I wish I had been given those directions as I was making my appointments. That said, onto the more important stuff. As luck would have it, we had the same guy who gave us massages at the Body & Mind Spa (Zachary). I had him and he had Shay, the owner. It's a really comfortable and nice looking spot. The massage was standard for Swedish. Even with parking ($7.50 for 1 1/2 hrs) - or you could always find street or walk or whatever - and tip ($10), the massage came out well under the $70 -$105 you would pay everywhere else BEFORE tipout. Now to address some of the other yelpers' concerns: customer service - it's spotty, I think. I emailed and got an immediate response the next morning. I called once, they answered. We went back and forth a few times trying to correlate our schedules and their availabilities, and it wasn't a problem. In person, I was greeted cordially. They've been there for 5 months so I think they're smoothing out their kinks. thin sheets - yes, I found them to be a little thin (had a guy, wanted to be somewhat concealing). All you need to do is to double it up and extend the sheet to cover all your pretty parts =) -- yes, the sheet's long enough to do so parking - if you go early enough, you should be able to find ample street parking. we - forever on Hawaiian time - were gonna be right on time so we just ate the parking cost. HOWEVER, it still wasn't a big deal after paying $65 total for two massages (I had a Living Social voucher). ambiance - not gonna be pretty like the resorts, Aveda, Heaven on Earth, etc., more understated, calming, simple decor like Body & Mind Spa but it's all purposeful, clean, new, etc. Look, I'm pake and it's a damn good deal. You're not gonna get your "aahhhh" spa day thing here, but if you're just looking for someone to relax you for an hour+ and looking to do it quite regularly (which I recommend), HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG ?? seriously. I give 5 stars just because it was that good and I'm definitely returning soon since I don't have to scrape and save for my next visit.

Lesley M says: for inviting me to express my experience with your establishment. I had the hour massage and the 1/2 hour facial. The facial for some reason was not available, probably because it was difficult finding the place once I left the garage (spent a good 15 min trying to find the place) It would have been good to get specific directions when I first made the appt. Also I've forgotten that you needed to fill out a questionaire whenever you went to a new place, so my bad, but perhaps I would have had it top of mind if it was mentioned when first making the appt. My practioner was Marshal whom I consider EXCELLENT. I'm an avid fan of massage, in fact I too am a MT....so I'm very critical. However his methodology was quite new to me thus I welcomed the new technique because it was very effective. For over 10 years, I've had a knot in my right calve, and no matter where and who I went to for a massage, they couldn't address the problem. But Marshall did..the lump is smaller now. My only regret was that time ran out before he could address my feet. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I would love to book another appt with him. Please call to me schedule it. My number is 237-5142 or 699-1667 I also have a friend who would like Marshal to work on her....if he knows to address her siatica concern. Again, mahalo for a wonderful experience. The therapy is only as good as it's practioner. Blessings, Lesley Hu-Masumoto
Thanks

Good Job

Nona . says: The idea of a one- hour massage for under $60 in Honolulu is hard to imagine. At $40 or $25 - when you buy a 6-pack - it's unheard of! So here's the deal. . This is a start-up business with a mission to provide quality massages at affordable prices. It's business model relies on repeat customers and high volume. The Living Social special that sold hundreds of $20 massages may have overtaxed this fledgling business as people were eager -- including me -- to book appointments. The owner, Shay, is a young business professional who is hard working and a talented therapist. She is committed to making this business work in Honolulu. And she is working out the kinks as many businesses do in the first year. Like another reviewer, I, too, did not like the downtown location. The new Eaton Square location is conveniently located, has a clean, professional feel, and ample parking. It was formerly the office of Dr. Laura Steelsmith. My husband, teenage daughter, and I have had a number of massages from Shay and her therapists. Each one has a different personality. While we have our favorites -- Shay and SueAnn -- I get the concept. For $25 an hour, I'm happy to try different therapists. I have only compliments about the quality of the massages that I have had. They were done by therapists with loads of bodywork experience using various massage modality. The book of profiles that sits discreetly on the table in the waiting room describes the impressive credentials of each therapist. This is not your typical "Swedish only" massage place. There were just a handful of massage types, albeit less well-known modalities such as, Rolfing and Thai massage that I didn't see in the therapist profiles. What IS offered should meet the needs of the vast majority of massage clients. I consider myself a massage enthusiast having had many, many, many massages over the years -- from medical massages to high end spa massages. I'm cheering for Shay and hoping that she can quickly work out the service issues so that she can fulfill her vision of providing with high quality, affordable massages in metro Honolulu. If you are still reading this review, my advice is. . give it a try and YOU be the judge. Relax, it's just massage.

AMAZING MASSAGE!!

Rachel H says: Shay's massage was amazing! Like others I was a little concerned with the inexpensive price, expecting the service to be so-so. From the beginning I was put at ease by Shay's great personality and professional ability. I was so tense from extensive job searching, which we all know is very tiring, but the massage I received made me feel human again and ready to jump back into the job search ! Everyone I talk to I am telling them about this great massage I had and where it was at!! I plan on being a regular.:)
Christina you are awesome!
11/01/2010
Sheika A says: Trick or treat! Treat for sure! I got a Swedish massage on Halloween day from Christina and like everyone else, because the massage was extra affordable, I was a bit skeptical of how the service would turn out. However, Christina was great! She was very accommodating and asked if I had any previous injuries before she started. I only had a boxer's injury on my right pinky but that's minor. Nonetheless, I'm happy she asked me that question. She was just fantastic! She mentioned afterwards that she specializes in deep tissue massages which made me extremely happy because I would have preferred that over.a Swedish. I'm definitely telling my friends about her and booking another massage with Christina next month. Happy happy joy joy!

Todd B says: My wife and I had a massage Friday with Shay and it was wonderful. I was a little skeptical due to the price, mostly because I have paid a lot more at other places, but Shay proved me wrong. She was not only very professional, but proved she kew how to take away all of your tension and pain. My wife and I had a wonderful afternoon and would highly recommend this to anyone.
Had a great massage experience

Sean M says: Had a great massage experience with Christina this week. I requested a 90 minute, full body, deep tissue massage with emphasis on my back and shoulders and Christina did an amazingly good job of loosening up my back muscles and working through the numerous, deep seated knots that she found there. She did a true deep tissue, with some added shiatsu and other techniques and I was very impressed by the results. Christina listened to my feedback and worked with me to fix my problem areas. She was absolutely professional and extremely well trained and knowledgeable. The location was convenient, clean and quiet and I felt like I received a great value for my money. I would highly recommend this company, and Christina in particular, to anyone.

A.S J says: My husband and I were looking for a great way to end our 1st year anniversary on Oahu and despite the many people out on Waikiki shoving flyers to their massage salons, we decided to look elsewhere. We are so glad that we found Janelle, Sky and Shay! This was my husband's 2nd massage ever (the first one didn't go so well and I thought I would never get him to go to another one with me) but I was so surprised he was the first one to say how great of a massage he was getting. He said Sky's hands were super firm and were really what he needed for his lower back and shoulder issues. He's been getting shots in his shoulder this year to relieve the pain and he said after Sky's massage, it was instantly better and he didn't even mention to her that he was having shoulder issues. As for my massage with Janelle....outstanding! She concentrated on my back since she asked me if there were any places I was having problems with. I wish I could have booked a 2 hour appt but like I mentioned earlier, I wasn't even sure if my hubby would've went for the 1 hour one. It was super easy to book both appointments with Shay. They are all super professional and friendly. Janelle even made us some homemade cookies for afterwards. I will definitely go back again next time we are in Hawaii.
Great affordable massage from experienced and knowledgeable therapist!

Jessikah K says: I have gotten massages at luxury spas that were not even close to the massage i got from Janelle ! I went in with shoulder and lower back tension, and Janelle knew exactly what to do to get me back to normal. What i loved about it was that she wasnt limited to deep tissue or swedish, but knew a whole variety of modalites (lymphatic, lomi lomi etc) , so she combined what best suited my needs. By the end of our session my pain and knots were gone, i felt much more relaxed and my mental tiredness was also gone. The prices were affordable and the service i got was better than a luxury spa, plus i did not feel rushed . This was during my stay in Hawaii. I was so happy to hear that they also operate in California ! I am back in California now and getting ready to book my next appointment with the therapists here, and tell all my friends about it ! Jessikah K.

Wendy C. Anaheim Hills, CA
8/25/2010
Wendy C says: Anyone who knows me knows I'm addicted to massages. After a few days of playing in Hawaii, I was in dire need of a good rub. My family and I were staying at the Trump International Hotel @ Waikiki. There was no way I was going to pay resort spa price for a massage because I didn't have the time to enjoy the spa facility. I just wanted a good no frill massage. We had brought our iPad with us, so I quickly did a search nearby on Yelp for 'massage'. I saw a special for this place. Although I don't normally take a chance on places without any review, for $40 I was willing to risk it. When I called to make the appointment, Shay answered the phone. She was very cheerful and helpful. The office is located in a condominium building. They also provide mobile service at a higher fee. Since it was not too far from the hotel, my daughter and I walked there. When we got there, Janelle and Shay greeted us. The tables were set up in the 'living room' with a divider. Although it was not spa like, the place was very clean and quiet with music playing. After asking us a few questions, they left the room for us to change. Janelle worked on my very sore body. She knew exactly where my problem areas were and really got the kinks out. She would asked a few times during the session if the pressure was OK and so on but still left me to enjoy my massage without too much conversation. I really appreciated this because I needed some quiet time to relax. Her massage was firm and yet smooth. During the entire time, I kept thinking I wish I was back home because that would also meant Janelle would be in the neighborhood!!! My daughter, who normally doesn't care about massage, also enjoyed hers very much with Shay. She gave her 2 thumbs up. If you're in Waikiki and are thinking of getting a massage, don't even hesitate for a second calling Janelle or Shay. You will thank me later.

Our Compliments & Appreciation to Ann for a Relaxing Massage!
6/27/2010
K & R G says: Shay, you did it again! Another one of your therapist, Ann, gave husband & I a very pleasant & sooothing massage tonight. We could tell from the start of the massage that Ann was an experienced therapist who knew how much pressure to use on our aching bodies. She was willing to concentrate on the areas that hurt the most and shared remedies to relieve my husbands aching foot. Thanks to Ann, my husband & I will have a restful night sleep!!
Keep Up The Good Work, Christina!!!

Kelli G says: My husband, Ray & I would like to extend our warmest aloha and sincerest compliment to your massage therapist, Christina! Christina gave us an awesome two and a half hour therapeutic massage at our hotel room on Thursday, June 24th. Christina was successful in working out the tension from our entire body with her patience & perserverence. Christina's "down-to-earth" and uplifting personality made Ray & I feel very comfortable... mind & body! By the end of our treatment, Christina relieved Ray & I of all our aches & pains.. We felt rejuvenated and very grateful for her hard work. We found Christina to be "genuinely" pleasant, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable in her field of massage. Thank-you to Shay and Christina for your professionalism and aloha!

Great Massage

Y & S G says: My sister had gotten 2 certificates for a 60 minute massage and a 30 minute facial, which she couldn't find the time to go so had given it to my daughter and I. After reading reviews i was not extremely excited to get my massage and facial, but now i realize that you should never believe all that you read. Both my daughter and I had massage appointments with Kenji. His personality was great and he did a very outstanding job on both of us. We were very satisfied with his services and anyone looking for a great massage should request him. As for our facial, my daughter was not able to go to her appt. yet but will at a later date. I had my facial and being it was Awa's first day, i think she did a pretty good job and could have done an even better job if they supplied her with larger towels to work with. With more experience i think she would work out perfect. The only little problem i had was with making my appts. For some reason the calls are very static and not clear so i could hardly understand what the person was trying to tell me even though i believe she was pleasant. If you could get rid of that problem, i am sure you would be able to get more customers, being this is a great place to go with also great prices.. Ask for Kenji!!!
Massage with Darren

RaeAnn H says: I felt very relaxed and revived! Darren got all the kinks and stress out of my problem areas. I will definitely be back for my next massage.
Good deal & good massage
10/04/2011
Jana N says: When I read all the reviews on Yelp and even on this website, I wasn't sure what to expect. In all honesty, I probably lowered my expectations based on all the negative comments I saw posted, but figured I will still give it a try because the groupon deal was too good to pass up. As far as the process to book a massage, I didn't have nearly the difficulty getting in touch with someone to book the appointment as others had reported. When I first called, no one answered so I left a message. I received a call back from the receptionist later that day (or possibly the next day) to schedule my appointment. I must be honest: the receptionist, although making attempts to be polite, still came off fairly unprofessional. She seemed quite distracted. Once I booked the appointment, I got a confirming email that I would have an appointment with Darren at my requested date and time. About a week before the appointment, I received an email indicating that there had been a change to my appointment. The date and time were still the same but I noticed that the name of the massage therapist changed from Darren to Dimitri. I figured that was fine since I didn't have a preference other than requesting a male massage therapist. I received one more confirming/reminder email regarding the massage. On the date of the massage, I received a phone call from the receptionist who indicated that the massage therapist's other appointments were running late so my massage would be postponed for half an hour. This wasn't a big deal as I preferred my massage to be late as possible since there is always work to do at my office, and the call was made in advance enough that I wasn't inconvenienced. When I showed up for my appointment, I met my massage therapist Dimitri who was just great. He made sure pressure was ok throughout the entire massage and was very nice to talk to. For those of you looking for a firm massage (not those barely can feel anything massages), Dimitri is your guy! I told him my problem areas which he focused on wonderfully. I recommend him, especially for athletes out there who need good muscle work and need those knots/kinks worked out! He is a good listener and adapts to what you tell him. Overall, I was very pleased with my 90 min massage and for the price, it was def worth it! When I'm in need of a massage, I will definitely keep this place in mind and look forward to coming back again.
Good value - good massage

Kimberly K says: I made an appointment both me and my husband. He had Annie and I had Dmitri. I will let him leave his own review but he was very disappointed. Dmitri was amazing. I like deeper pressure and I get lots of massages. He was able to get all of my trigger points and just the right pressure. It was 90 minutes of heaven. My only complaint doesn't have anything to do with the actual massage. I had a 90 minute session and needed a bath room and it's outside of the facility...not just outside of the room but get a key, walk down the breezeway, etc. But the massage itself was worth every cent. Thanks Dmitri and I will be back...but I doubt my hubby will. :(

unknown e says: I bought two Living Social deals for 1-hour Sweedish Massages back in October - one for me and one for my mom. We used them two days ago at the Eaton Square location on Hobron Lane. Street parking is 25 cents for 10 minutes. Steep to me, but what are you gonna do. After reading other yelp reviews, I decided to try to be proactive about this experience. Since I wanted two appointments at the same time, I called to schedule a month in advance - and then called again to reconfirm a week before the massage. I had to leave a message when I called to reconfirm, but someone returned my call within a few hours. The day of our massages, Sam (the receptionist) called me about five hours before our appointment to ask me what time my appointment was. That struck me as strange; shouldn't the massage place already know what time my appointment is? At any rate, I told her I was coming in at 2pm, and she said she'd see me then. We got there about 20 minutes early (because parking was easier to find than expected). The waiting room was tidy and quiet ~ there are three separate rooms that are used for massages. Though Sam was sitting behind her desk, she didn't really greet us. I asked Sam if we needed to fill out the forms sitting on the table, and she said yes and handed me pens. She offered us water and cookies, and also the restroom key if we needed it. After asking Sam if she needed our vouchers, she confirmed that I had requested one female and one male masseuse. My mom was to be massaged by Annie (who was also sitting in the waiting room at the time), and I got Zach. Zach finished his previous appointment on time, so I went in first. He was friendly but professional. I got the whole hour I paid for, though the massage itself felt rushed at times. The pressure was strong - it's a good thing I like that, because he never did ask me if he was pressing too hard or not. The two most awesome parts: Zach used my breathing to help stretch me out more, and I've never had someone massage & stretch out my neck the way that he did. I have full mobility back, and I hadn't even realized how tight my neck had been, I've lived with it for so long! My mom's massage started about 15 minutes late. Sam apologized to her for the wait, explaining that the previous appointment started a little late. My mom said not to worry, but that she was worried about the metered parking, and Sam offered to give her some quarters. That was nice! My mom said that Annie was amazing and that she felt so relaxed ~ and would definitely go back. She even gave me a hug for treating her to the massage :P My mom had asked Annie for a deeper massage because of all the knots in her back & shoulders; Annie said that she would have to charge an extra $10 for a deep tissue massage. When my mom said nevermind, Annie said that she would tweak the regular Sweedish massage a little to meet more of what my mom needed. At the end of her massage, I overheard Annie tell my mom to drink lots of water to help with muscle recovery. That was nice as well. All in all, our experience was quite pleasant - not nearly as horrible as I was thinking it might be, based on previous reviews. Maybe you just have to be proactive.
Great massage for the price
4/21/2011
Corrie O says: If you are looking for great massage for a reasonable price, this is the place! I purchased a voucher through living social as did my husband as a gift for me since I have medical needs and do well with massage therapy. I was a little skeptical after reading some negative reviews but figured I wanted to check it out for myself and I'm gld I did. Having just had a baby in late July 2010, I had put my routine "luxuries" on hold, especially since I knew we were on a tight budget since I would not be working but really needed to address my physical needs seeing that I'm disabled and have left sided stiffness due to a stroke I had at 18 years old. I didn't redeem any vouchers till now and am glad I waited. Apparently, the Eaton square location is better than the Merchant street one and they moved about 5 months ago. The ambiance is clean and relaxing but is simple and not extravagant like most spas(I guess that's how they can keep the cost down) but is OK if you are focused on reasonably priced quality massage. I had two medical massages so far and was grateful I could taylor my treatments to my personal needs. I called and left a message to set up an appointment. I got a call back from the owner Shay the next day and was set up with Zachery a couple days later. When I called to confirm my appointment, I found out I was scheduled with a therapist named Lisa, since there were scheduling changes with Zachery(I guess that was OK since I had initially requested a female but only a male was available and that for my needs, Zachery was probably the best choice). I had Lisa and she was great(has been doing massage for 17 years and I left feeling better) but I wanted to try Zachery(especially after reading his bio) so scheduled with him for my second visit. I probably will reschedule with Zachery again since used various techniques on me that I'd never experienced before and felt really good after. Apparently he is experienced in Thai massage too and when I asked him about it, he said to make sure to mention taditional Thai when scheduling so he can set it up beforehand(I think my parents will try him for the traditional Thai massage that they have been talking about since visiting Thailand)! I will probably get their package deal ($250 for 6 60 min. massages) but ended up buying a groupon deal for a 90 minute massage since the 60 seemed so short once the massage was in full swing. Nevertheless, I will definitely return and hope this place does well so it can stick around for a long time! The only constructive criticism I have for them is that perhaps the reception area could be made more private by using a shoji door or some kind of barrier so the clients waiting don't have to hear the receptionist scheduling other people's appointments, which tends to make the place seem a little less professional than it could be(it wasn't a big deal to me but this could be a big deal for others). Shay, the owner is very personable and even took the time to walk me over to the naturopathic wellness center next door since I had expressed an interest in this area of my health. I would definitely recommend!
Very enjoyable and reasonably priced

AsianRunningDiva S says: I had my Living Social deal on hand since October, so decided to finally use it! I made an appointment online since I read about the unsuccessful times other yelpers called. I received an email confirmation immediately, which was great! The week of the massage, I decided to give them a call to make sure that my appointment was still on. The person who answered the phone informed me that they do not have their downtown location anymore and that they are strictly in Waikiki--Eaton Square (above the First Hawaiian Bank)! Good thing I called! I was relieved that I didn't have to venture downtown looking for an "abandoned" building! The day of the massage, I found parking on Hobron, which was fortunate, but apparently Relax validates for the first hour of parking! I had Chris as my masseuse, which was a change for me since I haven't had a male masseuse in awhile! He used a good amount of pressure, which was good since my shoulders and legs were in need of a massage! I wouldn't say my experience was relaxing, but since I'm more into working out my knots than a relaxing experience, it worked for me! He targeted my knots and worked them out the best he could! The prices are great--$40 for an hour massage! They are not open on Sundays, and their new location accommodates up to 3 clients! Very clean entrance way as well! I bought another deal for this location, so will try out another masseuse next time! :)
"The NEW Mr. Vegas" reminisces...
1/27/2011
The NEW Mr. V says: Extremely spoiled from days gone by, this entertainer once treated himself to weekly massages. Now residing in Waikiki, I've rediscovered bliss in the name of Relax It's Just Massage. I, like so many others, was originally turned onto this pseudo-spa from their Living Social special. Hating to admit it, but I was not a fan of their Merchant Street location. However, their Hobron location is comfortably situated amongst million-dollar high-rises (I feel like I'm back in Vegas!). Needless to say, that first treatment was to open the floodgates to the total mind / body / soul experience that the fine art of massage is meant to be. I've since purchased another package deal from Relax...and I am happy to report that I'm back to WEEKLY massages for the first time in almost 8 years (it was a tough life back in the day). Shay's staff of talented therapists are all top-notch and professional. But if you want to experience a truly transcendental experience, SKY IS THE WAY TO GO. And because of the superb nature of my weekly moments of euphoria, my original 4-stars has to be extended to 5 (I only wish the cookies were fresh-baked!)...
Wonderful!

Tennis H says: I took advantage of an on-line offer through Groupon, and had a 60-min. hot stone reflexology foot massage with Chris. He was so, so WONDERFUL. I had never had hot stone treatment before, and it was marvelous. I love playing tennis, and am on the balls of my feet a lot -- they needed this massage! Chris' pressure was very firm, and deep, and my feet did indeed feel like pillows after (thanks Chris!). Their regular price is so affordable, that I will be visiting them again.
Mom enjoyed her birthday massage!

Maria L says: HI Shay, Although I was a little unsure about how it would turn out because I had never seen your new place and with your costs being so low, you know what they say...."you get what you pay for!" And then when we arrived early for our mom's apptment and Lisa wasn't quite ready for us, I really started to feel uneasy about the whole thing. But after the 1 hr and 30 mins treatment for my mom's birthday, she was very pleased and said she really enjoyed the Foot Reflexology massage with Lisa. I would definitely recommend you to friends and family. And I will try out a massage for myself, whenever I'm back in Hawaii. I also appreciate all the advise you gave me on exercise tips for easing mom's back pains. I'm glad we got this for her birthday and SHE was too. Maria from Kirkland, WA

Pretty OK!

Kim F says: I had two massage voucher and I must say I was getting very irritate with making a booking for two people. Making the appointments was very annoying. It seems that not too many massage therapist were available in the Waikiki location. After more than one year of hanging on to my vouchers we finally got an appointment, then was told that the facial massage of 30 minutes could not be done since the (only) person doing those ( mind you we had two sessions booked at the same time) was not available... weird. Anyway- I had to ask if that means we get a 90 minute massage. Nobody offered to reschedule or say that we would get the 30 minutes added to our one hour massage. I did not feel treated very professionally. Needless to say I was not very confident when we finally got to our massages. I have to say that the actual massage was pretty good. The massage therapists were friendly, professional and knew their massage skills. I realize that there are different massage techniques and I had many other massages before. This one was ok- swedish massage, very relaxing. I would recommend the massage there by not getting a voucher through whatever company and I am not going back again.
Impressions

florie w says: The massage was great but making an appointment was a challenge as no one was returning my phone calls, and almost every time I call i get an answering machine. Glad I found their email address and started complaining and that's how I got an appt. Hope this is not the usual practice because no business will survive this way. Too bad, because the massage was great and the prices/promos looked good enough to consider returning.
Friendly receptionist, negative experience otherwise
10/01/2011
Heidi L says: Honestly, sometimes I guess you get what you pay for. But I was really not impressed with the massage or the facilities. The room was freezing, there was lots of construction noise, which made it hard to relax. The massage therapist never asked if I had any injuries, and seemed terribly inexperienced. She kept pushing hard on my kidneys-ouch! She jerked out my shoulders in a very inexperienced way that may have caused minor damage to my shoulder. I came in to feel better, not worse. The receptionist was very friendly, and came outside when I couldn't understand her directions. Her fingers were bony and hurt, rather than soothed me. I wonder if she even has a massage therapy certification. The facility didn't seem like a professional massage studio. It was very chaotic and everything seemed rushed and a bit tacky, right down to the demand for taxes on the voucher I had already bought, after I paid the tip. I was lucky I brought cash in with me just in case. And then the hard sales pitch. Is this really a professional massage studio or do they just hire high school students to pose as massage therapists?
Just OK...

Kelly M says: I am writing a review for the mobile couples massage we bought from living social. My husband and I stay-cationed in Waikiki for our anniversary. I LOVED that they were able to come to our hotel room. I had a very difficult time making an appointment. I made numerous calls and left numerous messages and NO ONE ever called me back. On my 5th call, someone finally answered the phone and I was able to make an appointment. The day before my appointment, they called and said their massage therapists were "sick" and had to re-schedule my appointment. I initially said no, because we were supposed to staycation in Waikiki, however I was able to change my hotel reservation to the next week, so it ended up being OK. They changed therapists on us a few times the week before our appointment. Finally, on the day of the massage, they called twice to ask what room we were staying in. I told them twice that check in time was at 3, so I did not know the room number. I left a message AS SOON as we checked in, however, again, no one answered. Someone called 1 hour prior to the massage to ask us AGAIN what room number we were in because they did not check their messages... All of this, and we didn't even have our massages yet! I do not know the 2 massage therapists names because they did not introduce themselves. We had a male and a female massage therapist. The male therapist was very friendly and let me just say, I love deep tissue massages and his pressure was PERFECT! The female therapist, on the other hand, had absolutely no personality. She did not say anything or crack a smile during the entire time (except a very small one when we gave her the tip). My husband, unfortunately, had her as his massage therapist, and he was very disappointed. His comment was "you get what you pay for". Would I use this company again? Probably Not. I'd rather pay a little more to get a better experience.

joan w says: I booked my Living Social massage and facial online from my home computer for a Saturday. The next day I recieved a call that the time was not available, so I re-booked for the following Wednesday afternoon. Later I recieved 2 email confirmations. On Tuesday I received a call saying Wednesday was not available, so rebooked for Thursday. On Wednesday I got a confirmation call and 4 emails. On Thursday, I arrived a little early only to be told by Shay that I had NO APPOINTMENT for either service.I checked my phone and they sent EMAILS to cancel the day of the appointment but DID NOT CALL ME. She did have Jeanene who did a very relaxing 30 minute facial and I rebooked for the massage for next week. After reading the reviews I see that this is common. Now I will need to leave work early again. What I think is happening is that they get appointments for full price services and cancel the Living Social. If you presume that they did the LIving Social promotion to grow business then they should treat those people at least equally to full fare clients. The location is out of the way and nothing any better than most massage studios so unless the massage I have already paid for is really special, I will go else where in the future.
Staff needs better training

Paula O says: I too had specifically asked for a female therapist and received email confirmation with the name of a female therapist but when I arrived, was taken back by a male therapist instead. Part of being professional is confirming with the customer the type of service that is being requested. The massage itself was fine but I will not be returning because of the poor quality of customer service. Also, I went with a friend at the same time and she wanted the foot massage but was given the full body massage instead and she said that her therapist would doze off during the massage! Definitely unprofessional!
Worst experience EVER!

laura s says: I had and appointment for a couples mobile massage on January 19/2012 at 9:00am. I received a confirmation email a couple days before. Nobody showed up. I called 3 times, getting voicemail each time. Apparently they don't have an office phone. When I got a call back at 9:40am, as I was walking to my car to go to the office, I was told they have 2 call centers, neither of them in Hawaii. What???? The barely english-speaking lady on the other end of the line apologized and said they would massage us at 10:00 in the office. When we arrived, the staff had no idea we were coming. Also, there was another customer there who they apparently didn't have on their schedule, even though she had received a confirmation phone call the day before. They were able to fit us in, but it couldn't be done as a couples massage, as they don't have room for 2 in a room. Also, the little old lady that they didn't have on the schedule had to wait until we were done, to get her massage. The massages were mediocre, and that surprised me, as I'd gotten a massage at that establishment before, and enjoyed it. Upon leaving I asked if they validated parking and of course, they didn't. I WAS going to leave a tip originally, but seeing as I had to pay for parking, when I wasn't even supposed to drive to them, I didn't. I've NEVER not left a tip for services. And that's a big deal for me, as I ALWAYS tend to over-tip. I will NEVER go back there and will discourage anyone I know from using their services.
Left with bruises after couples massage
12/15/2011
Alicia P says: I purchased the mobile massage deal on living social. The booking process was ATROCIOUS! the worst place ever to get a massage scheduled. I called several times and emailed and they still got confused. Eventually, my husband and I both got massages in our home, which was nice. My girl, I don't remember her name, was way to hard. Even after I told her twice that it was too much pressure. I actually had bruises on my shoulder blades after. My husbands masseuse did not listen to his wishes and rubbed every where but where he wanted. She somehow managed to forget about his injury warning and proceeded to massage the spot. Then she massaged his individual toes? I dont think it was an hour well spent. We both felt 50/50 about the experience but the pain I felt after and the fact they were 15 mins late was a killer. I would not recommend.
The masseuse fell asleep . . . six times
12/12/2011
Marissa L says: I have gotten lots of massages before, but I have never experienced anything like this one. There is really no excuse for your masseuse falling asleep on the job, and to be honest, I was in shock. Several times during the sixty-minute foot massage, I felt the masseuse just stop for about 10-20 seconds, just holding my feet in his hands. I had never had a masseuse do this before, so the first few times I thought it was just his personal technique. The third time it happened, I looked up and I saw that he was SLEEPING! I didn't know what to do! I texted my boyfriend "the masseuse is sleeping." At first I thought it was kind of comical -- the dark lights and the soothing music are very relaxing -- but it was totally unprofessional. The nodding off happened six or seven times -- I lost count. I ended up tipping him anyway because I felt bad for him and it is the holidays, but this was by far the worst massage I have ever gotten.
Living Social Couple's Massage in Honolulu - Poor Booking Process & only sent ONE Therapist
11/18/2011
Yi S says: My sisters and I were going on a trip to Hawaii. We bought some goupons/vouchers to save on expense. If I knew the headaches this would have created for me on my vacation I would have just paid the full price somewhere else. When we were trying to book the appointment, no one would return our phone calls and the only way to get a response is via email. The only dates available were either before we got to Hawaii or the same day that we were leaving Hawaii. Mind you the final appointment was made over 2 weeks ago and we did not receive any confirmation for the upcoming appointment until I reached out to them the night before (again, no return calls just respond to my added email). The day of the appointment (the same day we were to departure), we had only a couple hours available before we needed to get to the airport. The Therapist that was sent to us was lost so she was 30 minutes late, while on the phone with her we found out that they only sent ONE Therapist for a "Couple's" massage. Now the Therapist can only do us back to back so this 60 minutes Couple's Massage turned into 150 minutes delay and back to back individual massages. So our beach activities were cancelled because of this. The Therapist (Monica) was good, she knew what she was doing but there was nothing she can do regarding the poor booking processing and the mix-ups. I don't usually write poor reviews but this had to be the worse experience I have ever encountered while on a vacation. So much for "Relaxing" while on a vacation or before a flight. Good luck to those we have purchased, perhaps you want to start on the booking process a month prior to your trip if you are taking one.
Didn't do anything for me
10/30/2011
No N says: Positive - accepted Groupon passed expiration date because the place was too booked to accept coupon before expiration date. Negative - phone message said it would accept coupon until January (date not specified) but had to email to request an appointment. When I went to the appointment and heard receptionist tell another customer that her coupon expired so the woman explained that she was told it would be accepted. I said I had the same issue and that I was told the same thing - that the coupon would be accepted. The receptionist said nothing, than asked my name. Initially, she could not find the appointment but finally did. A little later the masseuse asked about her appointment and made a comment that she hadn't eaten all day. She told the receptionist that the scheduler should allow for meal breaks. The receptionist asked if it was OK if the masseuse took a break for 15 minutes to eat. It was OK with me but the masseuse discovered that appointment was for 90 minutes and she had another job to go to after me so decided she didn't have time to eat. After filling out the form, I went to the restroom but she waited to read my form in the dark AFTER I returned. Since she couldn't read the form she moved the vertical blinds to get some light. After I undressed I discovered anyone could look into the room until the vertical blind was shifted back into place. I mentioned my leg cramps, back, sore areas around my thumbs in both hands. She placed hot towels on my calves and pressed on them for a few minutes saying the heat would relax the muscles - it didn't do anything for me. She then did a full body massage with no more emphasis on any parts by either kneading or stretching the muscles - no tapping or percussion. She did not ask me about the pressure so I can see why the website mentions the coupon is for LIGHT massage to protect itself (the coupon does NOT say light massage) - not effective at all. I checked my watch before and after the massage - started at least five minutes late (I disrobed and waited on the table, no knock on the door before entering) and ended five minutes early. The place does not use oils - it uses Walgreens' moisture lotion. I looked at the bottles before leaving. On the appointment email, the place suggests a gratuity of $15-$25 on a $40-$70 massage. Really? $15 tip on $40 is 37.5% or $15 on $70 is over 21%. The place must not pay very well. I left feeling the same way as I did arriving. What good is a massage if it doesn't make you feel better?
Not a good experience

Sheri F says: First of all, when I bought my groupon, I called and left messages multiple times and no one called me back. A few months later I tried again, and finally someone called and I made an appointment. I had to reschedule - I called three days before my appointment and the website says 24 hour notice, but still I felt I got attitude about rescheduling. So my husband and I finally get to our appointment - one of the therapists opened up early and she was very nice - asked us to fill out the forms and offered us water and if we wanted to use the bathroom. When the receptionist finally comes (late), it turns out that we were not on the schedule and they couldn't take us. She said there couldn't be extra people because she had confirmed everyone - well, if no one puts us on the schedule, she can't confirm can she? So we had to reschedule - she wasn't exactly friendly and helpful when doing that, but at least she told us we should get a confirmation the day before. So that first day cost us $3 in parking. Finally showed up for our appointment, and my therapist (not the one on my confirmation as he was assigned to someone else) told me that with the groupon it is a swedish massage with light pressure, and if I wanted more pressure, it would be $15 more. Well, I didn't want light pressure, so I agreed to the $15 more - it was painful and she never asked if I was comfortable or if the pressure was right. And the heavy pressure was in places that I didn't ask for. When we got back to reception desk, she told the receptionist it was an extra $15 for deep tissue massage - well, she never called it that. If she did, then I would have said no. I just wanted a swedish massage with firm pressure. I was in pain that night and couldn't finish my work. On the other hand, my husband said that his therapist was good - asked what kind of pressure he wanted before and checked with him during the massage if it was okay - I could hear her since we were in the couples room. And she didn't charge him an extra $15.
Mixed Review

Domo H says: I booked 2 massages, 1 for by husband and one for myself. Mine was first. OK experience. My biggest constructive criticism is that the therapist should talk to the client before starting to discern what is expected. I filled out the info sheet and said I wanted my back neck and shoulders worked on. I ended up getting a body massage and I am not sure my neck was even touched. I spent the entire massage worrying about whether or not she was going to work the kinks out of my neck and shoulders and I left there more tense than when I arrived. The office was clean and the facial was very nice. Although once again, she did not ask me about my skin and used tea tree products which stinged a little. My husbands experience on the other hand was horrific. He arrived and the receptionist had no idea who was where and what was up. Then he had to wait for 30 minutes while the receptionist flammed at his boyfriend on the cell phone for all to hear. Incredibly unprofessional. Then the sheets were dirty on the table. Then the therapist answered her cell phone and texted someone during his sesssion. Even after that, she did not turn off her phone and it continued to beep everytime she had a text come in. Lovely....Then the icing on the cake.... she massaged his feet and without a break in motion, when to massage his....wait for it.....FACE. No washing hands, nothing. GROSS! Ultimately, unprofessional, We will never drop another penny there and I will be seeking a refund from Groupon.
No gold stars here...

Barbara K says: First off, it was a nightmare just getting the receptionist to book me an appointment, let alone get it right. I got a confirmation call for an appointment on the wrong date. It's a good thing I called to re-confirm my 2nd appointment because I wasn't in the books. The third try, they finally got it, but not after a grueling conversation with a guy who was no smarter than a box of nails. When I finally got there, they tell me they don't even validate for the parking structure so I had to move my car and pay $2.50. I moved it onto the street parking and ended up paying another $2.50 in quarters for the meter. So onto the massage. It was very relaxing, somewhat of a nice backrub that my 5 year old niece could do, it didn't do anything for my aching muscles. The music was unique, there was a man talking in a meditative state, not my flavor or cup of tea. I'd much rather prefer a soothing, calm melody. The girl giving me the massage had really bad breath and when I was laying on my back, she was breathing hard and I could hardly contain myself. Her hands smelled like her lunch, a combination of onions and beef. The sheets (if that's what you call the starched, crispy fabric) were so uncomfortable and did not seem appropriate for a massage. Overall, my experience was less than mediocre. I will not be returning again, nor will I refer anyone I like there...
Living Social Mini Facial and 1 Hr. Massage

Kate L says: My facial was great, I even bought the products in a small package. I usually get about a massage a month, and this was by far the worst massage I have ever received. It was a female therapist, I cannot remember her name. The massage was painful. I told her a few times it was too much pressure and she continued to massage me like I was a 300 pound man, I weigh 120. I left them both a $10 tip and the massage therapist opened hers right in front of me and goes "ugh" and rolls her eyes. For the worst massage I ever received, she is lucky I left her anything. The facility is small and plain, and I would be willing to overlook that if the services were great, but no way. You get what you pay for. I wont be going back here.
Let's be honest here

Pam T says: I guarantee this site is only posting the positive reviews. Let's see if this gets posted. Horrible from the start. A few hours before the massage, I got a call from a woman who said she was the owner, and she gave me a hard time about how one of HER employees had booked my appointment, and kept insisting that I could only come in for one of them. It was only after I insisted that I had planned my schedule around what he told me that she very rudely relented. When I arrived, the staff told me that I could choose between two guys for my massage, when I had specifically requested a female therapist and the confirmation e-mail had a woman's name booked for me. I pointed to a female therapist who was there, and they told me that she was booked for someone else. Not my fault! Anyway, I was told I could come back later, as if it was no big deal. Terrible. The massage itself was okay, but the therapist kept working on areas that I told him didn't need work and spent very little time on one of the areas I specifically asked him to focus on. Just horrible. Will be getting my money back from Living Social.

Great Massage with Maria
Samuel M says:
My massage at your Waikiki office was outstanding. Maria is very good at deep tissue masage and she was able to get the kinks out of my back and legs. My weight is 340 lbs so I didn't think she could get in deep enough, but she did a great job.

Affordable, Awesome
Paul M says:
I've had two great massages here, and will keep coming back. It's sometimes hard to get an appointment (busy phone, message tag), but worth it. I don't need to pay premium for a spa atmosphere, this is just right.

Ask for Carissa!
Lia P says:
I'm definitely not a massage enthusiast... Carissa changed that. It's affordable enough to get regular massages and fabulous enough to want them. I loved the no frills atmosphere - which usually makes me a little uncomfortable. Carissa was awesome and very nice. I will totally return and request her.
