Life coaching is a viable business for anyone who has the skills for mentoring other individuals in attain their goals, whether these be personal or professional. Most life coaches would conduct face to face coaching seminars either one-on-one or with a group. Some conduct their coaching online. For you to establish yourself as a professional in this field, though, you would need life coaching certification from a credible alliance or institution.
Licensing Requirements
Because coaching does not necessarily translate to psychotherapy, guidance counseling or social work, there are no licensing requirements for one to be a certified coach. However, as a matter of professional standards, it’s a good idea to acquire certification from organizations like the International Coach Federation (ICF). Being a certified Credentialed coach with the ICF is three-tiered, and differentiated into the following: Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Master Certified Coach (MCC).
Associate Certified Coach
Acquiring certification from the ICF usually starts with the ACC level, and this is divided into two options: the Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) application and the Portfolio Application (PA).The main difference between the two is that the ACTP certification applies to individuals who have completed training with an ICF accredited coach training program. The PA, meanwhile, is for applicants who have completed their training on non-accredited schools. In lieu of such training, the ICF requires 60 hours of documented training specific to Life Coaching. Portfolio application also requires 10 hours of work with a qualified mentor coach. This is usually taken care of by the ACTP accredited facility if you have studied there.
For both, an applicant must also have a minimum of 100 hours coaching experience, 75 of which should be paid, and these should be for a minimum of eight clients.
Application for ACC certification costs $ 100 for the ACTP option, and $300 for the PA option..
Professional Certified Coach
The PCC certification also entails two options, as with the Associate type of certification. These are the ACTP and Portfolio applications.Individuals who have completed their professional-level training with ACTP certified training institutions do not need documented training hours or work with a training coach because these are already facilitated by the training facility. Meanwhile, portfolio applications would require 125 hours of documented training in Life Coaching, and 10 hours of work with a qualified mentor coach..
Both types of applications also require 750 hours of hands on coaching experience, with 675 of these paid. Applicants are also required to have a minimum of 25 clients. Application costs $300 for the ACTP option, and $575 for the portfolio option. Both ACC and PCC level certification require two reference letters from qualified coaches.
Master Qualified Coach
This certification is meant for expert coaches, and comes in only one option. Applicants should have 200 documented hours of training specific to Life Coaching, 10 and hours work with a qualified mentor coach. This level also requires a minimum of 2,500 hours of coaching experience, 2,250 of which should be paid. Applicants should also have a minimum of 35 clients. The MCC level application requires three reference letters from qualified mentor coaches. The application and exam fees amount to $575..Certifications for all types are renewable for three years..
If you are interested in enhancing your Life Coaching practice, the ICF encourages you to join their organization (which does not necessarily require or entail certification). Online application for membership and for certification can be done at http://www.coachfederation.org. .

Riekie says:Sun, March 18, 2012 - 4:29:47 amA LEED AP is a person who has pessad the LEED exam and is considered by LEED to be an able person to aid in the LEED process. Just having a LEED AP isnt much good unless you have some knowledge about sustainable design principles and have a good understanding of how a typical architectural project runs. The LEED AP will basically sit in on the design meetings, making suggestions and helping the architect, owner and contractor come to grips with all that is required to get a building LEED certified. Then the LEED AP will generally be responsible for getting the paperwork together and working with the contractors to make sure they know what things they are required to do and document, so that you the LEED AP have the required documentations to get the proper credits. Just by having a LEED AP on the project will earn the building one point towards certification. In general LEED AP's are architects. Was this answer helpful?
