Find Out How!

Listing with an entertainers agency can help get you a lot of gigs. It’s an agency’s job to promote you and manage your career. In fact, it’ll be your agency that’ll be doing most of the work in getting you gigs. Not only that, but an entertainers agency will try to get its talents the best talent fees possible. That’s right – listing with an agent will help you demand more money for your services.

Of course, this can come at certain costs. For example, the agency will usually take a cut of your profits as payment for the help they’ve given you. This means that while you may have the potential to make more money, you won’t be getting the full amount charged. Most entertainers find this fact negligible, however, since it’s more than made up for by the sudden increase in job opportunities. If you’re an entertainer who wants to make life a little bit easier for himself, then listing with an entertainers agency is definitely the way to go.

Getting Started

Of course, listing with an entertainers agency can be as simple as walking through the agency’s door, chatting for a bit, and then signing a contract. However, this puts you at risk for scams and shoddy agent work. If you want to list with an entertainers agency that will actually help you get ahead in your career, you’re going to want to find a reputable one. Besides, finding an agency shouldn’t be an immediate priority yet.

Make a Resume

The first step is to create an impressive resume. This will basically serve as your credentials as an entertainer. Be sure to list down all your talents, and any prior performing experience. This will help attract clients. If you’re in a field where your physical appearance might matter, like in acting or dancing, it’s a good idea to throw in a few headshots with your resume.

For other talents, such as music or street performance, it might be a good idea to provide demos of your work. The agency may offer to make demos of your talent themselves, but it’s always best to be prepared. Once your resume’s all done, it’s time to head out and find an agency.

Finding an Agency

Finding an agency shouldn’t be too hard. Finding the right one, however, is the tricky part. First of all, you’ll want to list with an agency that is legitimate and truly interested in helping out its talents. When you’ve got your eyes on an agency, do a quick background check on it. Try to get a feel for how they work. If you can, consult one of their talents and ask for some feedback. The idea is to get as much information on the agency as possible, so that you can make a smart decision.

Listing with the Agency

Once you’ve found the perfect agency, make sure that you read and re-read the contracts provided. You want to make sure that every possible source of confusion is clarified. Like any contract, an entertainers agency contract should be well-reviewed for your protection. After you’ve signed with an agency, you’ll be getting a few job offers. Just be patient, since you may not be getting as many offers as you may want at the start of things. Stick with it, and you’ll eventually reap the rewards.

This is a really good article! It is hard for those not doing acting/modeling full time to commit to hiring a agent and doing some of the things mentioned here, but it is worth the time and effort.
