It is said that an entrepreneur’s ideas for a good business usually come from an itch that needs scratching. That is, necessity is the mother of invention. Or in other words, a problem should be looked at as an opportunity to address rather than just a problem in itself.

A real entrepreneur has an eye for a potential new business idea even before other people see it. Here are a few great entrepreneurs’ ideas that you can probably bank on if you intend to invest your time and money in a new business venture in the near future.

Green technologies and opportunities.

Green is the in thing today, with global warming being chief among the worries that the world’s population faces. Fact is that the Earth is fast heating up, and even just one or two degrees of increase in the world temperature would be enough to cause melting of the polar caps, and therefore rise in sea levels, and loss of low-lying lands.

Green businesses are springing here and there, and entrepreneurs can still fill in the gaps in many areas. For instance, a lot of homes are looking into alternative sources of energy, and technology companies are scurrying to come up with solar panels and wind turbines that are fit for the common home. Waste management companies are vying for better ways to recycle. Gadget makers are encouraging people to recycle their hardware, and not simply throw these into the trash bin.

Even the release of the new iPhone is giving great opportunities for a green businesses—used phone sales. A lot are upgrading to the new iPhone 3GS, and will be disposing of old first generation and 3G iPhones, which are still considered good buys in the pre-owned mobile market.

Go where the traffic is.

Real estate developers are aware of the potential increase in business and land prices when an area is developed. For instance, a patch of grassland might not be worth much. But when a mall is developed there, along with some residential and business districts, the land is instantly worth several times over. And companies race to get their share of the business. This is also the case with any small business. Try to assess what will be popular in the next few months or so, and target your efforts there.

For instance (and we again use this example), Apple’s iPhone opened the doors for many software developers to release third-party applications for this platform. A lot are free, but many are also paid, premium software, which iPhone users can conveniently pay for and download even over the air. This has instantly resulted in a business opportunity for enterprising software developers.

These are only a few general ideas that entrepreneurs might have on their minds when considering new business ventures. Remember, think of challenges and how to turn these into income-generating opportunities. In many ways, addressing such a need can help you profit and also contribute to society at the same time, such as in the case of green-oriented businesses.

You do have a point here. I have read a lot about this on other articles written by other people, but I must admit that you have proved your point here!

One of the really nice things about this post is its broad applicability—you can apply many of the concepts regardless of the type of site.
