Find Out How!

As a small business owner or aspiring entrepreneur, encountering a legal document is inevitable and necessary. Whether it’s a Power of Attorney form or a land use restriction agreement, you will eventually need a sample legal document to help you draft your own contracts. As a matter of fact, you’ll need to sign documents forming a limited liability company or documents for business incorporation before your business can be operational. But unless you’re a lawyer, you probably don’t want to try to write the document yourself. Although a document written in layman’s terms and signed by the two parties concerned is still legally binding, a professionally-drawn contract covers the matter more comprehensively than a contract you write yourself.

At this point, you may be balking at the legal fees you’ll have to pay to have a lawyer write the document for you. But if paying a lawyer to draft a legal document is out of your budget, you can still come up with the document you need by downloading legal sample documents online.

Using Sample Legal Documents

Legal sample documents are essentially templates of legal documents that set the tone of the contract and give you an idea of what the contract should contain. Legal sample documents can easily be found online; there are many websites that contain a long list of different kinds of legal documents. Some of the documents are for free, while other websites may require a small fee before you can download and use their documents.

Editing Using Sample Legal Documents

Regardless of whether or not you pay for them, you are free to modify the sample document according to your needs and the provisions you desire. Fill in the blanks of the legal sample document and make sure you read every line carefully before you let the other party sign it. You don’t want to make the grave mistake of misreading the document and agreeing upon a certain provision you may have missed out.

Sample Legal Documents You Might Need

Here are some of the legal sample documents you might need for your business.

Power of attorney – This document will give a particular person the right to deal with the business’s financial obligations, make transactions, and close deals. The person you give the power of attorney to will have the right to sign on your behalf, depending on the terms of the power of attorney.

Employment contract – Running a business will require employees, and any employee you may have is entitled to a written employment contract if they are taken on for over a month. The employment contract outlines all the terms and conditions of employment, agreed upon by the employer and employee. Some of the terms it should cover include the details of salary, number of hours worked, sick leaves, holiday leaves, and termination of contract.

Commercial lease agreement - Your business will need a physical location, and a commercial lease agreement will save you money and protect your rights. A commercial lease agreement is a contract between the landlord and tenant (you) that stipulates the space you’ll be renting and the terms and conditions of your lease.
