Computer repair rates are the lifeblood of the computer repair industry. Computer repair rates vary in every computer repair shop. Their rates can be influenced and based from experience, the training of repair servicemen, or competition from the market. Computer repair shops also base their rates from comparisons with the rates offered by their local competitors.

Billing

The manner on how computer repair services would be billed is another concern for computer repair shops. Billing of computer repair services can take two forms: flat-fee and hourly. In flat-fee, a specific computer repair service is assigned a specific price. The price is determined from experience, basing from the time and effort that needs to be exerted for the repair of a particular computer component.

For example, Computer Repair Shop A offers computer monitor repairs for $40. This means that Computer Repair Shop A would be receiving $40 for every successful computer monitor repair, regardless of how long it took for the computer monitor to be repaired and how extensive the damage is. In the hourly option, computer repair services are billed based on the hours it took for the repair serviceman to complete a task. The price may be general, covering all kinds of computer repairs, or specific for every computer component or task.

In this example, Computer Repair Shop B charges $30 per hour for computer monitor repairs. A client acquires their services and has his computer monitor repaired. The monitor took two hours to be successfully repaired. Computer Repair Shop B then got $60 for the successful repair. In the same example, Computer Repair Shop B charges $50 per hour for every repair, regardless of what computer component. A client has his CPU and printer repaired. Both components took four hours to be successfully repaired. Computer Repair Shop B was paid $200 for the repairs.

Below are common computer repair rates and other computer service rates being offered. Shipping of computer components is usually free in every repair shop.

General Repair Prices

Repairs that are done within a computer repair shop can be charged $25 to $75 per hour. Repairs done on-site or in a house can go at $35 per hour up to $100 per hour. Networking repairs usually cost $35.

DSL or Cable Modem Setup

The cost of acquiring an internet connection depends on the internet-service provider (ISP) chosen. They usually charge $50 to $145 per month and about $35 to $70 for set-up purposes.

Upgrades

Computer upgrades depend on the type of upgrade desired. For processors, upgrades can cost $269 to $349 or more depending on the processor brand and the additional parts required in the upgrade. Operating software upgrades usually cost $175 to $200. Software add-ons can cost $30 to $80.

There are universities and schools of information and computer technology that provide computer repair services for their communities. Their rates are comparatively lower or in-between as compared to those mentioned above. However, the scope of the services that they provide is limited.

There is a philosophy in the electronics repair market that states that “if the repair price costs less than 40% of the replacement value, then get it repaired.” Computer users would most likely opt to have their computer parts repaired if they see it as a more cost-saving alternative to purchasing new ones. Computer repair shops should then choose the most reasonable prices for their services while not compromising their time and effort.

I would guess that since you are the custodial panert and it happened on your watch, you would be the responsible person. But check with your states laws and many differ drastically regarding panertal liability. Some say, you are responsible if you were not watching your child. Some dont even make the panert responsible if they took reasonable care. But in the end, since you are the custodial panert and it happened on your watch you are going to be the one that has to respond to anything here. If it happened while on visitation with your husband, it would be his repsonibility to answer any claims of broken windows. See what I mean?
